Hoot - a custom order

A friend asked me yesterday to drop by a little hat for a 9 week old baby boy. Sure, no problem, I have something right he... Oh, maybe not that little. So last night I whipped up this gorgeous Hoot Hat, which kinda makes me wish for a little teeny tiny boy of my own again... but only for a second :)

Four, Five, Six

We were lucky enough to spend this weekend camping with great friends (Charlie and Charlotte pictured here searching for possums). The kids had a smashing time exploring, checking out the river and eating loads of marshmallows.

I decided not to take a watch, declaring myself free of its constraints, choosing instead to do as I pleased when I pleased. As a consequence, I think I drove everyone crazy asking what time it was, and we very nearly fed the kids their dinner at 4pm! So now I have been awake since 4.30am, thanks to Charlie, the white cockatoos and kookaburras, and I am are very much looking forward to my own bed tonight.

The second night camping Ben treated us all to a camp-oven verison of Butter Chicken, rice and naan bread. There are no words to describe how it tasted, but I can guarantee even Matt Preston would be impressed! Now to try to recreate the recipe...

And finally, my littlest Ladybug has discovered the camera. She likes to smile, but at the same time lean forward and peer into the lens. So most photos of her these days look a bit like this, unless I can catch her unaware!

Project Hoot

This delightful fabric holds endless possibilities.. but I'm thinking 3 tiered ruffle skirt to the knee, perfect for a little ladybug in the spring time. What do you think?

Day 2, so it continues....

Neither of my children has ever graced the inside of daycare, pre-school or otherwise, so I was excited to see some of their first independent artwork from outside the house when we went to a fab new playgroup in a neighbouring town this week. This is Ruby's very first 'craft' activity (besides defacing most of my walls and furniture with ballpoint pens, that is). A truly proud mummy moment. x

365 days starts now

I was recently inspired by someone who took photos of themselves every day for a year.
No, I will not burden you will photos of 'myself', rather photos of 'my life' and that which I most cherish.
So, today I began. This can't be hard, right? One photo, every day, that's it, that's all, just that. But seriously, only one photo?
Okay, so I begin with what consumes my life (gladly) every day, my precious bugs, one big, one little.

And maybe tomorrow I can limit myself to just one... maybe....

Stomping in puddles...

What beautiful rain we have had! Cooped up kids usually results in a mental mama, so after the rain we donned our boots and hats and headed out to float some leaf boats in the gutters.
Sam from Melbourne (her official title) was here with us this week and both bugs adore her (must be a genetic thing). She was chief umbrella holder and managed to float the fastest boats on the day. Come back to us soon, Sam. xxx

Who doesn't love jumping in puddles?
